My sister and I have grown up watching 90s romances, so it’s no surprise that Switzerland has always been our travel bucket list. I had travelled to a few places abroad as part of work trips, but my sister never had the chance. This year, as she had completed her Masters, I decided to surprise her with a weeklong vacation in Switzerland. It marked a huge leap for both of us. She had never travelled beyond the country, and I had never planned an entire trip on my own. I had helped organise trips at home and at work, but the complete responsibility never had never been on me. Since this was our first international trip together, I wanted it to be perfect. Her graduation has been an incredible achievement, and she deserved only the best.
PLANNING WITH THRILLOPHILIA
With my regular office work and other responsibilities, finding time to plan the trip details kept getting difficult. It was then that I decided to choose Thrillophilia for the experience. My office had organised several work trips with them, and reviews of Thrillophilia from the organisation team had always been great. The process was easy and smooth, just like I had heard. After browsing through their numerous packages, I chose the Spectacular Switzerland package as it covered practically everything I wanted. The accommodations had been a major hassle for me, but with Thrillophilia, all I did was tell the team my preferences. They dealt with everything else, so all I had to do was pack for myself and my sister.
EXPLORING SWITZERLAND
There’s nothing I enjoy more than surprising my sister, especially because her reactions are always full of excitement. When she realised we were heading to Switzerland, she was so happy she almost cried. And honestly, when we landed at the Swiss airport, I could relate to her. Visiting our dream destination on our own was an achievement our younger selves could have never dreamed of. The best part of our experience was the 24/7 ground support, just like I had read in Thrillophilia Switzerland reviews.
No matter when and where, if we needed help, the team was always ready to figure things out. The second-best part was the Swiss Pass, which gave us continuous access to all public transport for our entire stay. If you plan to visit Switzerland, I highly recommend getting the Swiss Pass as it saves so much time and makes travelling so easy.
Our first day was spent exploring Zurich, where we visited some of the popular attractions like the Rapperswil Castle and Fraumunster Church. We tasted local chocolates, shopped in small shops, and tried different delicacies like the Rosti and Zurcher Geschnetzeltes. Having an itinerary provided a clear time frame, but the flexibility to explore without a rigid plan allowed us to travel at our own pace. Next day was our day trip to Mount Titlis, and it was everything you see on Google and more. The cable car ride was simply breathtaking, as were the views from up top. The snow- covered peaks and valleys, the sun giving warmth when you walk around, it was all magnificent. We also went tried the Ice Flyer and Cliff Walk experiences, because who can say no to a thrilling adventure?
While Mount Titlis offered us amazing snowy views, Mount Pilatus on the third day added further to our amazement. We had tried the cable car experience at Titlis, so this time we opted for the train ride. After enjoying activities such as a toboggan ride, and zip-lining, we took the cable car back down. Couldn’t miss out on anything, you know?
The fourth day was dedicated to an unforgettable Geneva sightseeing cruise. It was an offbeat activity suggested to us by an expert at Thrillophilia. It was such a cool way to admire the beauty of Lake Geneva and the Geneva Fountain. We also rode the cogwheel railway up to Rochers de Naye for incredible views of the Alps. The next two days were for Interlaken and Jungfraujoch. For my sister and I, these two days were the finest of our trip. I had absolutely no words for the sheer beauty and charm of these destinations. Jungfraujoch felt like a spot that we thought we’d never be able to truly leave. And Interlaken was a place without which a Switzerland trip cannot be complete for a traveller. Our final day in Zurich was spent exploring art galleries, museums, markets, restaurants, and cafes. We simply chatted, strolled, had lots of chocolates, and spent hours admiring the blue skies and cosy streets. When we finally boarded the flight the next morning, we felt fulfilled. After all, this had been a dream for the longest time, and now it was one of our most cherished memories.
